All the hardware that the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) possesses will not be of much use if our servicemen do not share the value that Singapore is worth defending, said Associate Professor Koo Tsai Kee, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Defence and the Environment and Water Resources.

He was speaking to 200 educators, including principals and teacher cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), during a visit to Changi Naval Base on 17 Nov.

The annual visit, part of the SAF-NCC affiliation scheme, allowed them to experience life on board a Landing Ship Tank.

RSS Resolution took the visitors on a short cruise to the Singapore Straits, a vital segment of Singapore's economy.

Captain (NCC) Ng Tiong Ghee, a teacher with Braddell-Westlake Secondary, was impressed by the visit.

"It is a good experience to sail out and see Singapore's sea defence," he said.
