ARMY OPEN HOUSE - TREAT FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
29 Aug 2007
AOH 2007 is part of the commemoration of 40 years of National Service. It will showcase new fighting concepts and capabilities of the third-generation Army.
This is the first time that the AOH will be held in Pasir Laba Camp, which according to Commander 3rd Singapore Division Brigadier-General (BG) Tan Yih San is "very fitting".
Pasir Laba Camp is a camp that "truly belongs to the Army" because the "first batch of Army officers and recruits was trained here," he said.
This year's AOH has been thematically divided into seven 'worlds' to give visitors a sense of what it is like to be a soldier in the third-generation Army. Each 'world' comprises several 'lands' which offer visitors a whole gamut of exciting activities.
The various attractions are:
- Combat World - showcases the core business of the Army.
- Action World - visitors can catch live action shows demonstrating the Army's capabilities such as Urban Operations and Homeland Security.
- Mission World - gives visitors a chance to experience first-hand a combined arms attack mission.
- Battle Ride World - visitors will experience combat manoeuvres and realistic engagements with simulated enemy forces as a part of a vehicle crew.
- Future World - demonstrates technological advancements and their impact on the Army of the future.
- ACE World - Army Culture Experience World offers visitors an immersion in the Army experience, and showcases its most valuable resource - its people.
- Xtreme World - a place for fun and adventure, and visitors can test out the Electronic IPPT Scoring System, where all new records will be entered into the Singapore Book of Records.
- Downtown West - catering especially to families and children, this is where visitors can get loads of fun and food.
Opening hours are from 10am to 8pm daily. For more information, please visit https://www.mindef.gov.sg/army/aoh
