A topping-off ceremony was held at the site of the Army Museum of Singapore (ARMS) at SAFTI Military Institute on 19 Mar.

Then-Chief of Army Major-General (MG) Desmond Kuek attended the event, which marked the end of the construction phase.

"The ceremony also acknowledges the support that we have received from all quarters of the Army," said Major (MAJ) Kenny Tan, the Army Museum Project's Head Plans.

Topping off the last slab of concrete were MG Kuek; Colonel (COL) Lim Jit Chek, Assistant Chief of General Staff (Personnel); and Mr Sin Boon Wah, Deputy Chief Executive (Strategic Development) of the Defence Science & Technology Agency.

They had spaded in a cement mixture that contained a vial of sand pitched in by each member of the Army Conference.

These gestures, said MAJ Tan, represent "the efforts and contributions from all divisions and formations towards the museum's development".

The ARMS is slated to open in late September.
