6 DIV BIDS FAREWELL TO CARING LEADER

The light rainfall that threatened to mar the occasion did nothing to dent the high morale of the men of 6th Division (6 DIV) in the parade contingent on 27 Apr, eager to pay tribute to their outgoing commander, Brigadier-General (BG) Ravinder Singh and to welcome their incoming commander Colonel Lim Teck Yin.
BG Singh's farewell speech was one tinged with sadness at leaving, but much more with celebratory overtures to his men. This showed a leader who knew and cared for his men.
BG Singh recounted the most memorable experiences he had during his tour of command.
"6 DIV was tasked to co-organise the International Monetary Fund/World Bank (IMF/WB) meetings in Singapore in September last year. The event was organised successfully and everyone who attended the meetings was pleased with their experience in Singapore.
"6 DIV also set up a training centre to conduct combined arms training for the Brigades. With the training centre in place, Brigade training in the Army will improve significantly as we continuously refine the training process and share the lessons learnt from all Brigade exercises."
These were not achievements in and of themselves, said BG Singh in his farewell speech, but an apt reflection of the efforts and the pains taken by men who were wholly committed to their duties.
BG Singh moves on to assume the appointment of Chief of Staff Joint Staff.
