The contagious sound of children’s laughter fills the air as Major (MAJ) Delwyn Liew, 34, shows his two daughters – five-year-old Zerys and three-year-old Zeryn – around Paya Lebar Air Base.

An Air Warfare Officer (Air Traffic Control), MAJ Liew is serving as Officer Commanding, Launch and Recovery Operations Flight in 207 Squadron.

Check out some high-lights of what these two girls got up to during their visit, and what they learnt about being “Shepherds of the Sky”!

Despite the pouring rain on the day of the shoot, it was all smiles from the Liew family as Zerys (left) and Zeryn (right) don matching uniforms with their dad!
Air-mazing views up in the Air Traffic Control Tower: Zerys (right) and Zeryn (centre) trying to spot planes landing (with some help from Dad!) on the runway. RSAF Air Traffic Controllers direct aircraft during flight and ensure safe take-off and landing.
Headset takeover: MAJ Liew helping Zerys (left) wear the equipment that he uses to communicate with pilots of aircraft operating in Paya Lebar Air Base, while Zeryn (right) excitedly waits for her turn.
Junior navigator extraordinaire: Zerys (right) is locked in as she tries to find the little red dot of Singapore on the map.
Mini “bird-chaser” Zerys (centre) can’t stop giggling as Zeryn (left) shouts “Go away!” into the loudhailer. RSAF personnel use various bird-scaring techniques, such as loud noises or visual deterrents like brightly coloured flags (carried by MAJ Liew), to clear the runway and ensure a safe environment for flying operations.
Zerys (right) and Zeryn (centre) can’t wait to get their hands on the loot they received from Dad’s colleagues. PS. Can you tell what the plushie represents? (Hint: It’s related to an iconic landmark within the air base that was preserved from when it was Paya Lebar Airport!)
Zerys (left) and Zeryn share a moment of sisterly love while enjoying their “field trip” to Dad’s workplace.

Here's our special PIONEER Kids treat: Spot all the teddy bears in this post for a shot at getting SuperPark gift vouchers worth $120! Leave your answer here: go.defencepioneer.sg/pnrkids25gw
